Data Cleansing Project Awarded

PRESS RELEASE - Oman Ministry Of Defence - Data Cleansing Project Awarded

PiLog has recently been awarded a major contract by the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of the Government of the Sultanate of Oman to supply a Codification/Catalogue software system and to provide a Master data cleansing service for the Oracle ERP system implemented within the MOD.
The scope of work includes the total Material Item Master covering many of the major weapon systems in use by the Sultan’s Armed Forces.
The project is scheduled to be completed over a 2 year period and would include the data cleansing of many thousands of material line items and roll-out of the PiLog Master Data Manager, Master Data Acquisition tools and ESG N-Core software systems to enable effective management of MOD’s Material item Master.

PiLog has subcontracted ESG of Germany to supply the N-Core A-Cod-P1 codification system to compliment the Pilog Master Data Management systems and assist with the NATO Codification (NSN) cleanup.
The bulk of the data cleanup work is planned to be performed off-site in the PiLog Content Refineries in South Africa and India as well as by ESG in Germany, while software implementation teams from PiLog and ESG will assist with the software roll out on site in the Sultanate of Oman.
One of the main objectives of the project is to maximize the availability of the weapon systems of the Sultan’s Armed Forces by means of the effective Catalogue Management of their total Material Item Master.
The significance of this project, in addition to the size of the task, is the combination of items being catalogued in the NATO Codification military standard with commercial items to be catalogued using eOTD Identification Guides.

The Pilog Master Data Manager software (being interfaced with the ESG N-Core system) will ensure that all future enhancements of catalogue data is integrated with the master data contained within the Oracle ERP system of the MOD.
